OUR VETS
Dr Roslyn Nichol B.V.Sc
Dr Roslyn Nichol started at Albert Park & Elwood Veterinary Clinics in 1983 having previously worked in the industry for four years. She completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Melbourne University and has experienced 2 years of rural practice and 1 year of mixed practice in the UK.
You can spot Roslyn at both clinics holding consults and performing surgeries. She loves making sure all her clients and their pets are happy when they visit the clinic. She particularly loves seeing regular clients and their pets grow together over the years they visit the clinic.
A keen deerhound companion, she is now a proud parent to her 3rd deerhound Holly. A puppy who is already waist height! Along with her Tortie cat Koko (or Shimmey Shimmey Koko Bop as christened by a local Elwood muso) they enjoy yoga together. Koko being the teacher of course!
Roslyn enjoys following the South Melbourne U15 footy and traveling to Africa to visit the exotic animals (having visited twice). When she's relaxing at home Roslyn enjoys a good crime thriller or reading anything that stays still! One day she would love to see the 3 foot tall penguins of Antartica.
Dr Donald Ward B.V.Sc.
Dr Donald Ward joined our team back in 1988 with 2 years previous experience in the industry. Donald can be found at both the Albert Park and Elwood clinics or in Scotland! Having worked their for 7 years he still works there annually, often in stray animal centres.
Donald enjoys educating people about animal care and animal welfare. He is looking forward to having his own pets (a brown Labrador and a brown standard Poodle) however they are too difficult to keep with his current travel commitments.
Donald likes to keep active with lots of gym sessions, swimming and tennis. He barracks for the Essendon Bombers and loves to travel, noting Iceland and Morocco as the most exotic destinations he has visited so far. The food was amazing!
His favourite movie is ‘Breaking the waves’ and favourite book ‘Suitable Boy’ by Vikram Seth.
Dr Fiona Turner B.V.Sc
Fiona started work at the Albert Park and Elwood Veterinary Clinics in late 2009 after previously working in the veterinary industry for 3 and ½ years.
As well as her practical vet work, she has an interest in writing and writes her own blog to give her friends and clients a window into the wonderful world of pets. She is passionate about helping the public to learn more about how to care for animals and she loves to talk to people about their pets.
Fiona can be found hanging out with her Cavalier x, Lenno and loves spending time with her horses up at her family’s farm in north eastern Victoria. Fiona enjoys all types of outdoor activities including swimming and running and in 2010 was happy to complete the 100km Oxfam Walk in one piece.
Fiona is pictured her with one of her favourite dogs, Oscar the Weimaraner.
Dr Eva Aschman B.V.Sc
Dr Eva Aschman joined the team in 2005 having worked in the industry for one year prior. A regular at the Albert Park Veterinary Clinic, Eva enjoys all aspects of dealing with the clients. She also has a special interest in internal medicine.
Eva completed a Bachelor of Science followed by a Bachelor of Vet Science. A proud parent to O-Ho the mini schnauzer who loves any food put in front of him, Indie the female Australian bulldog who loves making friends and Cosmo the domestic shorthair cat.
Eva enjoyed traveling around Italy sampling delicious food and wine and hanging out with the locals. One of her favourite films is Donnie Darko and she thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘History of the siege of Lisbon'.
And by the way, "Go the pies!"
Dr Dianne Pakes
Dianne joined the team in September 2009, She graduated from University of Melbourne in 1981 and has been in small animal practice ever since! Early on she completed further studies in canine medicine, but decided, in 1987, to buy her own practice in Melton. 21 years later she sold this to one of her staff, to allow more time for family commitments and travel.
As an employed vet, she enjoys having more time to pursue her special interest of geriatric and internal medicine, where she is able to work together with clients to maximise the quality of life of their pets, especially in the later years.
In February 2009, Di and her husband spent 28 days travelling by ship to and around the Ross Sea in Antarctica, a memory that will be with them for ever. Other trips include Canada, USA and their first one to France. They look forward to many more, now their daughter, Cassie, is at Uni.
More local pursuits include a love of gardening, bike riding ( to cafes), walking and weekending at Blairgowrie with Abbie, a loving and playful Miniature Schnauzer.
